The Fall of Rome

crisis

Rome, January 44 BCE. Julius Caesar has just appointed himself dictator for life, while declining the crown of a king. In the eyes of many, the Republic is now dead and will remain so as long as Caesar is in power. They cannot be sure of victory, and they have yet to win over a number of influential senators, such as Cicero, who would be key in legitimizing any effort to remove Caesar from power. Will the Republic be saved, or will Rome turn to autocracy?
