Augusto Pinochet’s Regime
Crisis
Often called “The Other 9/11”, Augusto Pinochet seized power over Chile in a military coup on September 11, 1973. Ousting a democratically elected left-wing leader, Pinochet instituted neoliberal reforms and initiated an era of brutal political repression. Delegates in this committee will discuss rebuilding Chile after Pinochet’s regime.
