Crisis
The Aftermath of Texas Independence
The path to independence was not easy for Texas. After decades of Spanish colonization and violent conflict with Mexico, the newly formed Republic of Texas emerged victorious, but fragile. Mexico refuses to recognize its sovereignty, war debts strain the economy, and frontier instability threatens the young nation.
In this committee, delegates must decide whether Texas will remain an independent republic or join the sphere of influence of the United States or other foreign powers.
